The journey is better than the destination
The wooden llaüt from the shipyard with which we sailed from Brest (Northwest of France) to Mallorca, with a lateen sail and an electric motor of only 3kw.

Origen
The Origen is a restoration that we started this year in the shipyard.
What is special about this boat is that it has never sailed. Built in 1980, it has only been used as a mould to build other llaüts.
After 40 years of being the origin of many others, we wanted to give it a life of its own. We have called it Origen in memory of its function, giving rise to other vessels and as a tribute to our roots and maritime heritage.
Our aim was to recreate a classic wooden llaüt, rigged with a lateen sail, from the beginning of the last century, when these vessels reached their zenith.
WITH A LOT OF PLEASURE
The restoration
With only 4 months of work, we have renovated the entire deck of this wooden llaüt to give it a large cabin, sanded the entire hull to leave the pine of its boards visible, protected with only linseed oil and cleaned the joints to be able to caulk it. We have wooded its appearance with traditional rigging/rigging, entirely handmade in the shipyard (from the mast to the cleat through the 48 pulleys).
With a taste for noble materials, we have taken care of every detail, using almost exclusively copper nails, bronze and brass pieces such as the lamps and windows of the cabin, the navigation lights, the net whiskers, etc. to make this boat a true work of art, like no other.

Our trip
A challenge accomplished...
The ambition of our shipyard when purchasing the hull of this llaüt was to restore a traditional boat as the purest example of our creative capacity and way of working.
Origen is the shipyard’s boat, the one that accompanies us on all the trips we want to undertake.
We have sailed in the Mediterranean, the Cantabrian Sea, the Atlantic coast and even in rivers and canals, taking the maritime heritage of the Balearic Islands outside the Islands.
We have thus participated in the 2024 maritime festivals of Pasaïa (Basque Country), Brest and Douarnenez (France), returning with an unforgettable experience.
