IN MAJORCA
The shipyard
for your wooden boat
The place where traditional craftsmanship and innovation merge to give life to exclusive, one-off recreational boats to treasure
In the town of Felanitx (Majorca) by the Mediterranean Sea, you’ll find the Verata boatyard.
A workshop where we honour the traditional trade of the mestres d’aixa (boatbuilders) and their main work material: wood.
We have integrated the latest technological innovations in the maritime industry into classic boatbuilding, with the aim of streamlining production, reducing maintenance, ensuring a longer useful life for each boat and reducing their environmental impact.

How we can help you
CUSTOM MADE BUILDS
Each and every boat that leaves our boatyard is custom made to the client’s specifications. No moulds or prefabricated models are used. We build strip-planking constructions using laminated cedar and Oregon wood, without nails, burlap or antifooling.
The entire structure is glued with epoxy resin and with an application of copper in the hull, completely replacing the use of antifooling, significantly reducing the environmental impact and maintenance (duration of 10 years).
The hydrodynamic design of the hull ensures maximum energy efficiency, in addition to using renewable and recyclable plant materials. Just picture sailing in your unique and inimitable creation.
RESTORATION (REFIT)
If you want to refurbish and extend the life of your old wooden boat (whether it’s a traditional or modern build), we can carry out comprehensive restoration, repair and modification work based on what it needs.
We do a preliminary assessment of the condition of the boat and produce technical plans, in addition to 3D visualisations so that you can see the modifications before they are made.
You’ll receive a more comfortable, elegant and efficient boat. Good as new!
ENGINE REPLACEMENT AND RIGGING
For sailors who want to electrify and/or rig their wooden boat to make it quieter and more sustainable, we carry out replacement and substitution work on combustion engines with electric motors (both inboard and outboard) and we build complete rigs for sailing and/or we refurbish/improve rigs in use.
We take care of the dismantling and assembly of the engine and the Post Construction CE marking that certifies the boat.
By replacing an engine, you reduce the number of breakdowns, leaks and spills in the bilge… And, above all, you enjoy sailing in silence.

01
CONCEPT
We start with the idea of the boat you want and analyse different design options to draw up our initial design proposal.
02
DESIGN
Based on a prototype, we sketch a digital design of all the construction parts and start to cut them out using computer numerical control (CNC).
03
STRUCTURE
We glue the pieces together to create the structure and then put the battens in place. We sand (tape) and laminate the hull with flax or hemp fabric, then we apply copper and epoxy resin to prevent incrustations.
04
PRODUCTION
Once the boat has been turned over, we build and produce the interior areas and the deck.
05
FINISH
We pack personality into the details, the woodwork and exposed wood pieces, as well as the paint and varnish finishes.
SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
What’s the secret behind the quality of Verata?
The woods used in construction are sourced in Europe or locally — they are never tropical.
Birch marine plywood
for small structures
Red Pine
for the interior reinforcements and curved elements.
Red cedar wood
for the hull lining because of its strength and light weight.
Epoxy resins
for the construction and protection of boats derived (50% of their base) from vegetable crops and by-products of forestry.
Electric engines
to suit the size and design of the boat. Our efficient eco-friendly design requires low- power propulsion systems.

Preguntas frecuentes
